Job Description
Our client, a healthcare provider located in Novena, is looking for a Scrub Nurse to support orthopedic surgical procedures in the Operating Theatre.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties as a Scrub Nurse during surgical procedures.
- Prepare and maintain sterile trolleys and instruments for surgical cases.
- Perform instrument, sharps, and swab counts according to standard operating protocols and report any discrepancies to the Nurse Manager/Clinic Manager immediately.
- Verify and identify the correct patient for the correct procedure and surgical site, ensuring all required documentation, consent forms, and allergy information are accurate.
- Ensure surgical specimens are accurately labelled and properly dispatched to the laboratory.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the operating theatres and preparation rooms.
- Assist in cleaning, packing, and sterilisation of instruments and surgical supplies in accordance with Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) standards.
- Ensure consumables and equipment required for surgery are prepared and available according to the surgeon's preference.
- Position operating tables and surgical equipment appropriately prior to procedures.
- Provide patient education and preparation prior to surgery when required.
- Implement and maintain strict infection control practices including hygiene, sterilisation, asepsis, and disinfection protocols before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort at all times throughout the perioperative process.
- Initiate and support infection prevention and control activities.
- Communicate, document, and evaluate the patient's plan of care as required.
- Assist in resuscitation and respond to medical emergencies when necessary.
- Promote and maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Work collaboratively as part of the operating theatre team.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Nurse Manager or Clinic Manager.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognised institution.
- Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Operating Theatre nursing, preferably in orthopedic procedures.
- Familiar with sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced operating theatre environment.
