As a Scientist specializing in Upstream Cell Culture, you will drive the development, optimization, and scale-up of cell culture processes for biologics production within our Single-Use Biomanufacturing Facility. You will leverage your expertise in mammalian, microbial, or other cell culture systems to design robust upstream processes, contributing to the development of monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, vaccines, and other biopharmaceutical products. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you will support process innovation, transfer, and scale-up efforts to meet clinical and commercial manufacturing needs. Scientist is encouraged to actively participate in various seminars, scientific discussions (pre & post sale), proof of concept studies and product training for external & internal (Commercial team) customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking the lead in technical product specification, application and protocol optimization discussions with clients and prospects for the Cell Culture and Cell Therapy product portfolio for the Bioproduction Division (BCD) offering.
  • Using sophisticated and continually growing knowledge of our Cell Culture and Cell Therapy products & services and the biopharmaceutical development & production process to provide effective recommendations to the customer on Cell-line, cell cloning, media selection and optimization, feed & process optimization, and adoption of Gibco BioProduction Services.
  • Key understanding on product quality attributes and support customer in tweaking of CQA attributes.
  • Assist commercial team in identifying customer opportunities, needs, resolve technical feasibility of custom media requests and media/process optimization opportunities.
  • Serving as the primary field-based technical interface to potential and existing BCD customers. Provide troubleshooting on issues that arise at customer end on cell-line selection, experiment design and results of media development/optimization process for biologics, vaccines and CGT product groups.
  • Participate in training programs for Commercial teams & internal staff and seminars to external customers to increase customer awareness of the cell culture product line & services, core proficiencies and increased technical skills of the BCD team and BDC team.
  • Making suggestions on how products can be improved, and also advise Product management of new technologies that could complement our existing product range from the perspective of identified customer needs. Introduction of new product to customer, converting the product from R&D scale to commercial scale.
  • Support prototype testing and launch and provide feedback and VOC to R&D and Business units.
  • Handling and running the laboratory experiments independently.

Desired Experience:

  • Postgraduate in Biotechnology or PhD in Biotechnology, Biosciences with 8-10 years of proven experience in Bioprocess Industry.
  • Experience on handling cell line, maintenance, process optimization, CQA modulation, and scale up
  • CGT workflow experience an added advantage

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in handling all cell type, culture, maintenance and propagation.
  • Sound knowledge and hands on experience on cell cloning and selection.
  • Media screening, optimization and experience in process development for Vaccines or/and Monoclonal antibodies candidate
  • Sound knowledge of product quality control, optimization and effect of it on quality and efficacy of molecules.
  • Experimental design, Data analysis and interpretation using available software
  • Proficient presentation skills and ability to present across customer sites and conferences.
