[What the role is]
The Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science Group (RPNSG) in National Environment Agency serves as Singapore's national authority for radiation protection, safeguarding the public, radiation workers and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. As a Scientific Officer of the Non-Ionising Radiation Control Department in RPNSG, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with radiation protection standards and enhancing public safety across Singapore.
[What you will be working on]
Your Key Responsibilities Include
Regulatory Enforcement and Development:
- Enforce the Radiation Protection Act and its Regulations, ensuring that all radiation users comply with regulatory requirements
- Conduct comprehensive inspections and enforcement activities for non-ionising irradiating apparatus
- Monitor compliance and take appropriate regulatory action when necessary
- Review and enhance regulatory regime to ensure it remains current and effective
- Contribute to regulatory development and improvements
- Stay abreast of international best practices and emerging technologies
Public Education And Awareness
- Develop and implement programmes to enhance awareness of regulatory requirements for controlled non-ionising irradiating apparatus
- Engage with industry stakeholders and public on radiation safety matters
- Provide technical guidance and support to radiation users

- Degree in Science (Physics) or equivalent
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good analytical, writing and presentation skills

- Highly motivated, meticulous, committed and takes initiative
