About the Role

We are looking for a responsible and service-oriented Science Laboratory Assistant cum Administrative Support Assistant to support the daily operations of a school's Science Department and General Office. The successful candidate will provide laboratory preparation, administrative support, customer service, and logistical assistance to ensure the smooth operation of school activities.

This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy working in an educational environment and are passionate about supporting teachers, students, and school operations.

Key Responsibilities

Science Laboratory Support

  • Prepare, set up, and clear laboratory apparatus, equipment, and materials for Science lessons and practical activities.

  • Assist teachers with laboratory preparations, demonstrations, STEM activities, and science programmes.

  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and readiness of laboratories and preparation rooms.

  • Manage laboratory inventory, consumables, chemicals, and teaching resources.

  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment of supplies.

  • Conduct routine inspections of laboratory equipment and report defects.

  • Assist in stock-taking and inventory audits.

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of laboratory materials and chemicals.

  • Maintain laboratory safety standards and report safety hazards promptly.

Administrative & General Office Support

  • Provide frontline customer service by attending to parents, visitors, vendors, and stakeholders.

  • Handle telephone calls, enquiries, and basic email correspondence professionally.

  • Manage visitor registration and ensure compliance with school security procedures.

  • Perform administrative duties including data entry, filing, document management, and record keeping.

  • Prepare letters, reports, forms, and other administrative documents.

  • Coordinate appointments, schedules, and departmental administrative tasks.

School Operations Support

  • Provide logistical support for school events, meetings, programmes, and activities.

  • Support Science Department initiatives, STEM programmes, environmental education activities, exhibitions, learning journeys, and enrichment programmes.

  • Assist during school events, open houses, parent engagement activities, and other school projects.

  • Work closely with teachers, school leaders, operations staff, and external vendors.

  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the School Leaders, Operations Manager, or Heads of Department.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum Secondary School education.

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in laboratory operations, school administration, customer service, or a related environment.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and laboratory safety practices.

  • Good administrative and organisational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Customer service oriented with a positive attitude.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Meticulous, responsible, and well-organised.

  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced school environment.

Working Hours

School Term

  • Monday to Friday

  • 6:45 AM - 4:15 PM

  • Includes 1-hour lunch break

School Holidays

  • Required to work only during the first and last weeks of the June and December school holidays.

  • Working Hours: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

  • Includes 1-hour lunch break

  • No work required during the middle two weeks of the June holidays and the middle three weeks of the December holidays.

The work schedule may be adjusted according to school operational requirements.

The successful candidate is required to work approximately 47 weeks per year.
