Profile: Science Lab Support
Contract Period: 1 February 2026 31 December 2026
Working Hours
Personnel Will Be Deployed During The Following Hours
- Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays: 8:00 AM 2:30 PM (inclusive of 30-minute lunch break)
- Thursdays: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
The school operates on a
5-day work week.
Service is
not required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays, and during the
June and December school holidays.
Scope of Services1. Laboratory Support Services
- Assist in the preparation and setup of materials, apparatus, and equipment for daily experiments and performance tasks.
- Ensure all laboratory practicals and experiments are conducted smoothly.
- Support teachers in troubleshooting laboratory-related issues where possible.
- Conduct periodic checks during ongoing lessons to ensure experiments are proceeding safely and effectively.
- Carry out a safety review of assigned laboratories once every six months and recommend improvements to the Head of Department (HOD).
- Work with Science Level Representatives to procure learning materials and resources outside the school during working hours.
2. Laboratory Maintenance
- Monitor and manage the schedule of teachers using the science laboratories.
- Assist in the procurement of science equipment and instruments.
- Maintain science equipment, apparatus, and laboratory facilities.
- Keep accurate inventory records of science lab equipment.
- Assist science teachers in lesson preparation when required.
- Support the maintenance and safety of science labs, hydroponics areas, Discovery Haven, ponds, outdoor spaces (Level 3), learning spaces, and showcases.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of living organisms in the laboratory (e.g., insects, fish).
- Collaborate with the Science Department to plan practical schedules and experiment requirements to enhance students learning experiences.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, laboratories, and learning spaces.
- Propose and implement improvements to laboratory setups to enhance student engagement and learning.
3. Other Duties
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal, Vice-Principal, or HOD (Science).
- Assist teachers in running Green Sparks Club (CCA) activities every Thursday and support competitions, training, or related events.
- Provide administrative support to the General Office during school holidays, when required, or on days with no student lessons.
Qualifications and Skills
Qualification
- Minimum GCE N or O Levels.
- Candidates without the relevant qualifications but with relevant experience may also be considered.
Skills & Experience
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Preferably at least 1 year of working experience in a laboratory or clinical environment.
- Basic ICT skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
