[What the role is]
We are seeking CET Associate Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science to design, develop, and support the delivery of high-quality short courses in applied health and fitness disciplines. The role focuses on curriculum development and teaching in areas such as exercise prescription, applied sports and exercise nutrition, fitness training, gym and facility management, and related professional practice topics.
The successful candidate will combine strong subject expertise with practical industry insight to create engaging, evidence-based learning experiences aligned with current professional standards and workforce needs.
[What you will be working on]
- Design, develop, and review short-course curricula in sport and exercise sciencerelated subjects, including:
- Exercise prescription for health and performance
- Applied nutrition and lifestyle management
- Fitness training methods and program design
- Gym, facility, and fitness business management
- Senior exercise
- Develop course materials, including lesson plans, assessments, learning activities, and digital resources.
- Ensure curricula align with current scientific evidence, industry best practice, and relevant professional standards.
- Contribute to the delivery of short courses through lectures, workshops, practical sessions, or online learning formats as required.
- Support quality assurance processes, including curriculum review, learner feedback, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with academic staff, instructional designers, and industry partners to ensure courses remain relevant and market-responsive.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in sport, exercise, and health sciences.
[What we are looking for]
- A degree or higher) in Sport and Exercise Science or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more applied areas such as exercise prescription, nutrition, fitness training, or gym/fitness management.
- Experience in curriculum or course development, particularly for short courses, professional education, or vocational training.
- Ability to translate scientific research into practical, learner-focused content.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to inclusive, engaging, and high-quality teaching practice.
- Desirable Criteria
- Teaching experience in higher education or professional education settings preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. exercise professional, nutrition-related, or management qualifications).
- Industry experience within fitness, health, or sport sectors.
- Experience with online or blended learning platforms.
- Knowledge of accreditation or professional body requirements within the fitness or exercise industry.
- Self-driven team-players with growth mindset who:
