[What the role is]
The School of Engineering at Republic Polytechnic is seeking a Research Engineer to work on an industry project titled 'Smart Climbing Robot for 12 months.
[What you will be working on]
- Develop and prototype climbing robot solutions across multiple disciplines, including electronics, mechanical, mechatronics, firmware, and software development.
- Collaborate with the team in the development process.
- Conduct field tests in outdoor environment, including night testing.
- Support exhibitions and roadshows as required.
- Supervision of FYP/internship students working on the project.
- Assist with the procurement process in accordance with the guidelines.
[What we are looking for]
The Successful Candidate Should Have
- Strong coding experience in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C, C++, and/or Java is highly preferable.
- Good hands-on experience and knowledge using Qt software and ROS2 are essential.
- Hands-on development skills using Raspberry Pi boards, Nvidia's development boards, and platforms are highly preferable.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, adaptability, and the ability to work well in a team.
- A relevant computer engineering, electronics, and communication qualification, or a related discipline.
- We welcome candidates with at least four years of working experience in software development, along with practical knowledge of Qt software and ROS2 applications.
