Job Summary
You will maintain the conditions of two Science Gardens and one Eco-Planting Plot by performing gardening tasks that support plant health and site cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Water plants and planting areas regularly to ensure healthy growth
- Plant new plants as needed to maintain garden vitality
- Perform general gardening maintenance such as weeding, forking, trimming, and pruning to promote plant health
- Improve soil quality by applying compost or suitable plant nutrients when required
- Implement pest and disease control measures to protect plants and planting areas
- Tend to specific plants and organisms, including cleaning tanks housing caterpillars, to support ecological balance
- Keep planting areas tidy by sweeping and removing debris, dead plants, fallen branches, and wild creepers from fences, walls, trees, and planter beds
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Prior experience maintaining gardens, especially in a school setting
- Demonstrated interest and passion for gardening and plant care
- Good knowledge of gardening and basic horticultural practices
Other Information
- Working hours: Mondays 8.00am to 1.00pm (excludes lunch break) Tuesdays and Thursdays 8.00am to 4.30pm (includes half-hour lunch break)
- Approximately 21 working hours per week, not exceeding 8 hours per day
- No service required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays
