Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP SuccessFactors Compensation & Variable Pay Lead to drive the design, configuration, and delivery of enterprise compensation and incentive management solutions across a complex global environment.

The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end implementation and optimization of SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay modules across multiple instances, supporting diverse business clusters, legal entities, and joint ventures while ensuring alignment with global compensation strategies, local regulations, and evolving business requirements.

This role requires strong expertise in compensation planning, variable pay design, integration architecture, stakeholder management, and HR transformation delivery within large-scale global organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation & Variable Pay Solution Design

  • Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay solutions across multiple SAP SF instances.
  • Design and maintain global compensation templates, compensation plans, workflows, and approval structures while supporting regional and entity-specific variations.
  • Configure compensation cycles including merit increases, salary reviews, bonus programs, and incentive payouts.
  • Translate complex compensation strategies and business policies into scalable system configurations.
  • Define and document region-specific compensation rules including:
  • Proration logic
  • Eligibility rules
  • Payout calendars
  • Plan redesign or suspension scenarios
  • Assess SAP SuccessFactors capability boundaries for executive compensation and Long-Term Incentive (LTI) programs and define integration requirements with external vendors or platforms.

Multi-Instance Strategy & Harmonization

  • Drive harmonization and standardization of compensation processes across multiple SAP SuccessFactors environments.
  • Establish governance standards for:
  • Configuration management
  • Release management
  • Testing cycles
  • Documentation standards
  • Identify opportunities to standardize compensation structures, eligibility frameworks, and approval processes across global clusters.

Variable Pay & Incentive Program Delivery

  • Design and implement variable pay programs including:
  • Annual bonuses
  • Sales incentive plans
  • Spot awards
  • Performance-based compensation
  • Configure payout calculations, funding models, proration logic, and eligibility criteria.
  • Integrate Performance & Goals Management outputs, calibration results, and performance ratings into compensation workflows.

Integration & Data Management

  • Define and manage integrations between Compensation/Variable Pay modules and:
  • Employee Central
  • Performance & Goals Management
  • Payroll systems
  • Finance systems
  • Ensure compensation data accuracy, integrity, consistency, and audit readiness.
  • Support compensation-related data migration, validation, cleansing, and conversion activities.

Compliance, Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with:
  • Global and local labor regulations
  • Pay equity requirements
  • Internal compensation governance policies
  • Design and deliver compensation analytics and reporting solutions including:
  • Story Reports
  • Executive dashboards
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Support audit and compliance reviews through proper documentation and controls.

Stakeholder Management & Leadership

  • Partner with HR, Total Rewards, Payroll, Finance, and IT stakeholders across regions.
  • Lead workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and solution walkthroughs.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to functional consultants and analysts.
  • Act as the SME for all compensation and variable pay-related processes and decisions.

Business Value Realization

  • Align compensation solutions with strategic business outcomes including:
  • Improved compensation cycle efficiency
  • Reduced manual processing effort
  • Enhanced pay equity visibility
  • Improved manager and employee experience
  • Define KPIs and value realization metrics for compensation programs and transformation initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in HR technology with strong expertise in SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale global HR transformation or compensation implementation programs.
  • Hands-on experience supporting:
  • Multi-instance SAP SuccessFactors environments
  • Global organizations with multiple legal entities and currencies
  • End-to-end compensation planning and payout cycles

Functional & Technical Expertise

  • Strong expertise in:
  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation
  • SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay
  • Compensation planning and budgeting
  • Eligibility and guideline rule configuration
  • Total Rewards and pay equity frameworks
  • Experience integrating Compensation modules with:
  • Employee Central
  • Performance Management
  • Payroll systems
  • Experience with compensation data migration, reporting, and analytics.

Transformation & Innovation

  • Understanding of modern compensation trends including:
  • Pay transparency
  • Pay equity
  • AI/GenAI-enabled compensation analytics
  • Workflow automation
  • Ability to recommend process optimization and automation opportunities.

Leadership & Consulting Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong consulting capability to translate business requirements into scalable system solutions.
  • Experience engaging senior HR and Total Rewards leadership teams.

Required Qualifications

  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation certification is required.
  • SAP SuccessFactors Variable Pay certification is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Performance & Goals Management (PMGM)
  • Payroll integration principles
  • Compensation governance frameworks
  • Experience with:
  • Multi-currency compensation structures
  • Global pay frameworks
  • Cross-border compliance requirements
  • Exposure to executive compensation, incentive plan design, or Total Rewards strategy is an advantage.
  • Experience within highly regulated or complex global industries is preferred.
