About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished SAP Project Manager to lead a high-profile ERP transformation upgrading from a legacy SAP system to SAP S/4HANA. This role is business-critical, with a strong emphasis on Finance modules (FICO) while also covering Procurement as well.
The Project Manager will be accountable for driving the end-to-end delivery of the program from requirements gathering and vendor evaluation to implementation oversight and change management. As the key bridge between Finance leadership, IT teams, and external vendors, you will ensure the new ERP solution enables operational efficiency, compliance, and scalability across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance-Focused Requirements & Design
- Lead the gathering, analysis, and documentation of business requirements with emphasis on Finance (General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Asset Accounting, Controlling).
- Partner with Finance leadership to align system functionality with statutory compliance, reporting, and business performance needs.
- Document and optimize finance-related business processes within the S/4HANA framework.
- Support integration requirements across Procurement and EAM to ensure seamless end-to-end financial visibility.
Project & RFP Leadership
- Develop the full RFP pack, ensuring Finance requirements are central to the evaluation.
- Drive the RFP and vendor selection process, ensuring shortlisted solutions align with Finance priorities, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Present recommendations and business cases to executive stakeholders for approval.
Implementation Management
- Own project delivery of the SAP S/4HANA implementation, ensuring Finance modules are deployed to specification and on schedule.
- Manage internal teams and vendor partners to deliver Finance functionality including configuration, data migration, reporting, and compliance.
- Oversee SIT, UAT, cutover planning, and post-go-live support with special attention to Finance workstreams.
- Track risks, budgets, and dependencies, escalating critical issues proactively.
Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead change management activities to drive Finance user adoption.
- Coordinate training, communications, and stakeholder alignment with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Act as the key liaison between Finance, IT, and implementation vendors.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of ERP project experience, with at least 5 years leading SAP Finance projects (FICO).
- Proven track record in SAP S/4HANA upgrade or greenfield implementations with Finance at the core.
- Degree in Information Technology, Accounting/Finance, or related field.
- Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2) and Change Management certification preferred.
- Strong experience in business process reengineering for Finance (e.g., reporting, compliance, closing cycles, consolidation).
- Functional expertise in SAP FICO, with working knowledge of Procurement and EAM integration points.
- Demonstrated ability to manage full-cycle ERP projects, including RFP preparation, vendor evaluation, and delivery oversight.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills for engaging Finance executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to Finance compliance and controls.
