SAP Finance AP & CO Lead Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Finance AP & CO Lead Consultant to lead finance transformation initiatives focused on Accounts Payable (AP) and Controlling (CO) within SAP S/4HANA environments. This role will work closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimise finance solutions that support efficient Procure-to-Pay (P2P), management accounting, and controlling processes.

The ideal candidate will possess deep functional expertise in SAP FI-AP and CO, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP Accounts Payable (FI-AP) and Controlling (CO) solutions within SAP S/4HANA.

• Drive end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process design, including vendor master management, invoice processing, payment processing, and vendor reconciliation.

• Design and implement management accounting processes including cost allocations, budgeting, planning, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Ensure finance solutions support business performance management, financial reporting, and operational efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance controls.

• Lead SAP S/4HANA implementation, upgrade, rollout, and finance transformation initiatives.

• Promote adoption of SAP S/4HANA innovations, including Universal Journal and real-time financial analytics.

• Conduct business workshops to gather, analyse, and validate finance process requirements.

• Translate business requirements into functional solution designs and SAP system configurations.

• Collaborate with SAP FI, MM, SD, technical (ABAP), and integration teams to deliver end-to-end business solutions.

• Design and review functional specifications for Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, and Forms (RICEF).

• Support data migration, System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), cutover planning, and post-go-live support.

• Provide functional leadership, mentor project team members, and support knowledge transfer throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 10 years of SAP consulting experience, including at least 5 years specialising in SAP S/4HANA Finance.

• Strong hands-on experience configuring SAP FI Accounts Payable (FI-AP), including:

  • Vendor Master Data

  • Invoice Processing and Validation

  • Automatic Payment Program (F110)

  • Withholding Tax

  • Tax Integration

• Extensive experience with SAP Controlling (CO), including:

  • Cost Centre Accounting (CO-CCA)

  • Profit Centre Accounting (PCA)

  • Internal Orders

  • Product Costing (PC)

  • Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)

  • Variance Calculation

  • Overhead Cost Allocation

  • Work in Progress (WIP) Calculation

  • Settlement Processes

  • Actual Price Calculation

  • Budget Planning and Cost Planning

• Strong understanding of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) business processes.

• Experience with SAP RISE and cloud-based SAP deployment models.

• Proven experience delivering at least three end-to-end SAP implementation projects, including a minimum of two SAP S/4HANA implementation projects.

• Experience supporting enterprise environments with at least 20 company codes and/or plants.

• Strong functional design, integration, stakeholder management, and business process mapping skills.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SAP Asset Accounting (AA).

• Knowledge of SAP Flexible Real Estate Management (REFX).

• Experience with SAP Fund Management (FM).

• Experience with SAP Grant Management (GM).

• Experience working within Shared Services or Global Business Services (GBS) environments.

• Knowledge of financial reporting and business performance management best practices.

Preferred Certifications

• SAP FI Certification.

• SAP S/4HANA Finance Certification.

• Additional SAP Finance or SAP S/4HANA certifications are advantageous.
