Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Finance Lead to drive the finance workstream on an SAP S/4HANA implementation for a retail organization. This role sits at the intersection of finance process ownership and retail-specific SAP configuration, requiring someone who can bridge FI/CO functional design with retail commercial realities (merchandising, POS, omnichannel, inventory valuation).

Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end design, configuration, and delivery of Finance (FI/CO) processes within the S/4HANA program, including GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, and Management Accounting/Controlling (CO-PA, cost center/profit center accounting).
- Own finance integration touchpoints with retail-specific modules — IS-Retail/SAP CAR, SD (sales/billing), MM (procurement/inventory), and POS data flows (e.g., IDoc-based POS interfaces).
- Define and govern retail-specific finance processes: store-level P&L, merchandise category profitability, markdown/promotion accounting, consignment and intercompany settlement, multi-VKORG tax and invoicing requirements (e.g., country-specific tax invoice forms).
- Lead requirements gathering workshops with finance stakeholders, translate business requirements into functional specifications, and drive fit-gap analysis against S/4HANA standard capabilities.
- Oversee period-end close processes, including Material Ledger/Group Valuation considerations for intercompany retail flows.
- Act as Design Authority for finance-related decisions, ensuring alignment with RISE with SAP Private Cloud Edition governance standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional leads (SD, MM, Basis/Technical) to resolve integration issues affecting financial postings.
- Manage a team of finance functional consultants and coordinate with offshore/onshore delivery resources.
- Support testing phases (SIT/UAT), training material creation, and hypercare/go-live support.
- Ensure statutory and local compliance requirements (Singapore, and potentially regional entities) are reflected in finance configuration — tax codes, e-invoicing, reporting requirements.
Required Experience
- 15+ years of SAP Finance (FI/CO) implementation experience, including at least 2-3 full lifecycle S/4HANA implementations.
- Proven experience in retail industry SAP projects — IS-Retail, SAP CAR, omnichannel commerce, or similar retail-specific solutions.
- Strong understanding of retail finance nuances: consignment accounting, POS settlement, markdown management, multi-entity/multi-country tax handling.
- Hands-on S/4HANA 2020+ configuration experience (2023 release preferred); RISE with SAP Private Cloud Edition project experience a plus.
- Experience with Universal Journal, New Asset Accounting, and Central Finance concepts (if applicable to landscape).
- Familiarity with integration to SD & MM modules from a finance-impact perspective.
- Experience working within Singapore or Southeast Asia regulatory/tax environment preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management and Design Authority/governance experience in large transformation programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP FI/CO certification.
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud, BW/4HANA, or embedded analytics for retail finance reporting.
- Exposure to SAP BTP/Integration Suite for finance-related interfaces.
- Prior experience in FMCG, apparel, F&B, or QSR retail sectors.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills for engaging both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
- Ability to work across matrixed teams (client, SI partner, offshore delivery).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially around complex finance-retail integration scenarios.
