Job Description

  • Support the development and implementation of commercial strategies for ship-agency services.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with shipowners, operators, charterers and other maritime clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Understand customers operational requirements and recommend suitable agency solutions.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, presentations and tender submissions.
  • Follow up on commercial enquiries and convert opportunities into confirmed business.
  • Negotiate rates and service terms in accordance with approved commercial guidelines.
  • Work closely with agency operations teams to ensure services are delivered according to client expectations.
  • Apply practical knowledge of vessel calls, port requirements and agency procedures during commercial discussions.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activity and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, client activities and commercial outcomes.
  • Support the development of key accounts and assist with client-retention initiatives.
  • Review the profitability and performance of accounts and individual business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and regional offices on cross-selling opportunities.
  • Attend client meetings, networking sessions and maritime-industry events.
  • Prepare regular sales, pipeline and commercial-performance reports for management.
  • Assist with marketing campaigns and business-development activities when required.
  • At least 2 to 4 years of experience in ship-agency or port-agency operations.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Business or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 to 4 years of experience in ship-agency or port-agency operations.
  • Good understanding of vessel-call coordination, port services, documentation and disbursement accounts.
  • Strong interest in moving from ship-agency operations into a commercial or business-development role.
  • Existing relationships within the maritime industry would be advantageous.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to identify and develop business opportunities.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Confident engaging with shipowners, operators, charterers and other maritime stakeholders.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple enquiries and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer-relationship management systems.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently as well as within a team.
