We are a recruitment agency representing our client who is a global leader in specialty industrial chemicals, providing high-performance adhesives, sealants, lubricants, and maintenance solutions across automotive, construction, and industrial markets.
Travel Frequency will be up to 60% and Report to the Sales Manager in Singapore.
Based in Singapore, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving sustainable business growth across repair and maintenance solutions within heavy industrial sectors across Southeast Asia. This role focuses on expanding market presence, developing new business opportunities, and strengthening long-term partnerships with key customers through the delivery of technical, value-added solutions that improve equipment reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
The role covers key industries including cement, coal-fired power generation, steel, and mining. It requires close engagement with both end-users and channel partners to identify customer needs, develop tailored solutions, and support regional commercial growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales growth for repair and maintenance solutions within the assigned Southeast Asia territory, with a focus on heavy industry and MRO applications.
- Identify, develop, and acquire new customers to expand market penetration and achieve business targets.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, customer engagement, and opportunity development.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions to highlight product performance and application benefits versus competitors.
- Work closely with customers on-site to understand operational challenges and identify additional application opportunities.
- Provide both pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including troubleshooting and application guidance.
- Collaborate with distributors and partners to drive sales execution and strengthen channel effectiveness.
- Conduct market analysis to identify growth opportunities and develop competitive positioning strategies.
- Maintain accurate tracking of sales activities, project updates, and pipeline progress, including weekly and monthly reporting.
- Follow up on inquiries, quotations, and purchase orders through consistent customer engagement and field visits.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, including safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience in repair epoxy, coatings, or related industrial consumables is preferred.
- Candidates with experience in industrial equipment, machinery (e.g. pumps, dust collectors, valves), or mechanical components (e.g. seals, bearings) will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of maintenance and operations environments within heavy industries in Southeast Asia.
- Experience working with distributors and managing channel partners across regional markets.
- Willingness to travel extensively (40-60%) across Southeast Asia.
- Strong consultative selling approach with the ability to translate technical solutions into commercial value.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and territory management capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrates resilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset in a demanding industrial sales environment.
