About the Role

The Sales Director - Energy Horizons owns the full relationship across a portfolio of strategic ASEAN corporate & FI clients. The role focuses on broadening and deepening relationships, retaining and growing revenue, and orchestrating multi-stakeholder engagement across S&P Global Energy.

Reporting to the Regional Head of Sustainability, ASEAN & Pacific, you will act as a trusted advisor, aligning client sustainability and energy-transition priorities with S&P Global's capabilities.

Core Responsibilities

1. Account Coverage & Assignment Strategy

  • Protect and strengthen existing client relationships (do no harm).
  • Manage accounts using the formal Tiering model:
  • Tier 1: Deep engagement, full account plans, proactive cadence
  • Tier 2: Coordinated engagement with Sales, Client Engagement (CE) and Market Intelligence RMs
  • Tier 3: Light-touch with at least one strategic annual engagement
  • Ensure clear ownership and consistent engagement for accounts with Energy Horizons spend.
  • Assign new accounts based on account expertise, capacity and regional alignment.

2. Account Strategy & Relationship Growth

  • Develop and maintain customized account plans aligned to client priorities and Energy Horizons capabilities.
  • Share account plans with Global Account Managers for global visibility and alignment.
  • Identify and develop relationships with new personas (Sustainability, Strategy, Risk, Finance, Compliance, Procurement, Operations).
  • Present insights and recommendations to advance client sustainability strategies and optimize product usage.
  • Partner with CE/Product Specialists to drive adoption, usage and solution expansion.
  • Stay informed on global sustainability regulations (ISSB, ASRS, NSRF, CSRD, TCFD, TNFD, etc.) to advise clients effectively.
  • Manage S&P Cap IQ Pro Desktop onboarding and demos where applicable.
  • Serve as the commercial liaison to Market Insights, Marketing and ICC for events, blogs and client engagement activities.

3. Financial Responsibilities

  • Achieve assigned Net-ACV quota.
  • Actively manage renewal pipeline with strong account strategy and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify and pursue cross-sell and upsell opportunities across:
  • Energy Horizons analytics and benchmarking
  • Physical and climate risk solutions (Climanomics)
  • Transition, nature and sustainability datasets
  • Identify divisional synergies, Energy Horizons expansion opportunities, and X-DIV referrals.
  • Secure price increases in partnership with MI Relationship Managers.

4. Operational Excellence

  • Maintain strong Salesforce discipline, including visit notes, activities, contacts and client use cases.
  • Track all engagement in Salesforce, Usage Cube, Sales Navigator and internal systems.
  • Provide structured product feedback via formal feedback-loop channels.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, transparent renewal visibility and governance rhythms.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate across Energy Horizons, CCO, MI, Energy Commercial and global teams on account planning and execution.
  • Partner with Product, CSM, CE and Leadership to align solutions and delivery.
  • Represent S&P Global Energy at sustainability, energy-transition and industry events, webinars and conferences.
  • Contribute to the S&P Global Energy Horizons playbook and best practices.

  • CI / ET / XDIV referrals
  • 15+ high-quality client meetings per month
  • Strategic account plans for all strategic Tier 1 and Tier 2 accounts
  • VOC (Voice of Customer) feedback
  • Usage growth and multi-solution penetration
  • Renewal uplift and risk mitigation metrics

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years experience in Sustainability, Energy Transition, Data/Analytics, SaaS or enterprise account management.
  • Proven track record managing large, complex global accounts.
  • Strong relationship-building capability across C-suite and functional leaders.
  • Expertise in account planning, commercial strategy and growth execution.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Salesforce and commercial reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling and executive presence.
  • Ability to influence across global matrix teams.
  • High resilience, adaptability and strategic thinking.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with curiosity, creativity and drive.
