Role Summary
The APAC Sales Director is a senior commercial leadership role responsible for driving Sales, Gross Profit, and the number of active customer budgets across the Asia regions. This includes direct oversight of sales, marketing, and vendor relationships, while collaborating closely with product management, production, and operations teams at the China and Pune facilities, and suppliers. The APAC Sales Director must act as a strong, persuasive advocate for the company, possessing deep interconnect industry experience, an outstanding market reputation, and the ability to develop sound strategic sales plans, identify resources needed to carry out those plans, and implement such plans in a timely, profitable, and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, profitable growth plan for APAC market(both geographical and industry sectors), aligned with regional and corporate goals.
- Identify resource requirements (people, capital, suppliers, product solutions) and execute plans with discipline, speed, and professional rigor.
- Provide regular, timely, and professional reports to the Vice President & Managing Director, APAC on Sales, Gross Profit, active customer counts, risks, and opportunities.
Sales & Gross Profit Management
- Oversee all sales and marketing activities across Asia to achieve revenue and gross profit target.
- Maintain and deepen relationships with existing key customers while systematically developing new active accounts.
- Act as the senior commercial face of the company in the region, leading major negotiations and strategic account review.
Active Customer Growth
- Drive initiatives to increase the number of active customer budget (i.e., customers generating consistent revenue).
- Monitor customer engagement, win-back inactive accounts, and ensure a healthy sales/design pipeline.
Supplier & Stakeholder Relations
- Build, maintain, and enhance strategic relationships with the company's suppliers/stakeholders.
- Leverage industry reputation and contacts to secure favorable terms, early access to product solutions/technologies, and long-term partnerships.
Team Leadership & Structure
- Develop and lead a professional, high-performing outside sales and account management team across Asia.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ethics, and collaboration, ensuring full compliance with company policies and ethical standard.
Collaboration with Product Management Operations & Production
- Partner with production and operations teams at the China and Pune facilities to ensure quality and delivery standards support commercial commitments.
- Provide customer and market feedback to influence inventory, cost, production planning, and priorities.
Geographic Expansion
- Assess opportunities for geographic and industry sector expansion within Asia.
- Lead the planning and execution of new branch or location openings as approved.
Candidate Profile
Work Experience & Abilities
- Industry expertise: Extensive interconnect industry experience (connectors, cable assemblies, or related component sectors highly valued) with strong product knowledge.
- Commercial management: Demonstrated success managing Sales, Gross Profit, and active customer account growth.
- Sales strategy & execution ability: Proven capability to assess opportunities/risks quickly, develop actionable plans, and deliver results on time and profitably.
- Leadership & influence: Strong persuasive skills; able to advocate convincingly for the company with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Reputation & network: Excellent industry contacts and a sterling reputation among both suppliers and customers in Asia.
- Technical proficiency: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) – comfortable with data analysis and reporting.
Education
- Bachelor's degree required; Engineering degree strongly preferred.
- MBA or advanced management training is a plus.
Language
- Fluent in English (excellent written and spoken skills).
- Mandarin Chinese fluency preferred
