We are building a stablecoin-based global B2B payment network designed to solve the pain points of low efficiency and high costs in traditional cross-border settlements. In this intersecting domain, risk control faces unique new challenges: we must prevent fraud and money laundering in traditional international trade while ensuring the compliance and purity of on-chain funds on the blockchain.
You will take ownership of designing and establishing our Risk Strategy and Operations framework from 0 to 1. You will not be performing daily, mechanical manual reviews, nor will you be writing code. Instead, your primary mission is to define what to check and how to check—translating complex compliance and risk management requirements into clear, executable SOPs and system product specifications (PRDs). You will empower the mid-office review team to operate efficiently while facilitating smooth, rapid business flow through a practical Risk-Based Approach (RBA).
Key Responsibilities
1. 0-to-1 Risk Architecture & SOP Design
- Rule & Strategy Definition: Design merchant onboarding (KYB) and transaction monitoring (TM) interception rules from a commercial perspective (e.g., establishing manual review triggers based on high-risk corridors, trade categories, and transaction thresholds).
- Tiered Review Framework: Build multi-dimensional risk categorization and tiered review structures (based on customer ratings, transaction volumes, fund flows, and behavioral patterns). Define tailored supporting document requirements and SOPs for the mid-office review team to ensure clear, standardized execution without over-controlling low-risk accounts.
2. Complex Case Escalations & Non-Standard Scenarios
- Escalation Adjudication: Serve as the senior point of escalation for complex, high-risk, or disputed cases referred by the mid-office review team. Provide expert business judgment and alternative solutions that maintain compliance bottom lines while supporting sales and growth targets.
- Non-Standard Scenario Solutions: Develop practical review standards for high-risk B2B payment scenarios, such as third-party payments and deposits from self-hosted wallets, balancing user experience with regulatory requirements.
3. Risk Automation & Productization
- Codifying Strategy into Logic: Avoid reliance on brute-force manual labor. Translate frontline manual review insights into structured system rule logic.
- Product & Engineering Partnership:Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to turn risk strategies into product requirements (PRDs), driving the implementation of automated document parsing, smart rule engines, and third-party KYT tool integrations (e.g., Chainalysis, TRM Labs).
4. Risk Portfolio & Policy Governance
- Portfolio Monitoring & Policy Tuning: Track macro risk metrics, including fraud/loss rates, interception rates, and client complaints. Conduct regular audits of mid-office review outputs and dynamically adjust risk policies to prevent rigid controls from stifling business growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in risk strategy, risk operations, or risk policy within cross-border payments or Web3 payment/fiat-gateway platforms
- Proven track record of designing risk workflows, review frameworks, or operational SOPs from 0 to 1.
- Strong domain expertise in B2B settlement risk; capable of identifying logical discrepancies and authenticity red flags across full sets of international trade documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, bills of lading, customs declarations).
- Practical knowledge of cryptocurrency and stablecoin (USDT/USDC) payment mechanics, on-chain fund tracing logic, and high-risk on-chain behavioral characteristics (e.g., mixers, sanctioned addresses, protocol exploits).
- Strong Product Mindset: Demonstrated ability to abstract operational experience into logical rules and collaborate effectively with Product and Engineering teams to translate requirements into system features.
- Risk-Based Approach (RBA): Flexible, non-rigid mindset capable of dynamically calibrating risk controls according to customer risk tiers, enabling business expansion without sacrificing security.
- Hands-on Entrepreneurial Mentality: Willingness to directly handle complex frontline cases and manage operational ambiguity during early stages while systems and tools are still maturing.
