Risk Manager - Energy Trading


Overview
This is a diversified energy conglomerate, looking to build its trading capabilities in Singapore. As the organisation expands its trading footprint, it is strengthening its governance and control functions to support sustainable growth. This is a key opportunity for an experienced risk professional to shape and safeguard the firm's risk culture while working closely with senior leadership and frontoffice teams.

Role
The Risk Manager will lead the development and oversight of the enterprise risk and compliance framework for all trading activities. You will design and implement risk methodologies covering market risk metrics, hedging structures, stress testing and exposure controls. A core part of your mandate includes monitoring daily trading activity, validating hedge effectiveness, and ensuring accurate marktomarket valuation, collateral management and regulatory adherence. You will provide timely insights through risk dashboards, portfolio analyses and exception reporting, partnering closely with traders, finance, treasury and operations. You will also coordinate audits, regulatory engagements and certification-related initiatives across quality, safety and information security domains. As a senior stakeholder, you will champion risk awareness across the organisation and maintain constructive relationships with external partners.

Requirements
The successful candidate should hold a degree in Finance, Business, Engineering or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of experience in commodity or energyrelated risk management within a trading or corporate environment. Strong knowledge of VaR methodologies, stress testing, market risk frameworks and exposure management is essential, alongside proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python. Familiarity with hedge accounting under IFRS and relevant regulatory standards will be advantageous. You will also be best described as a structured thinker with strong communication skills, one with a collaborative mindset and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
