About The Team
The Internal Controls team focuses on strengthening Shopee's risk governance by identifying potential risks, improving operational controls, and building scalable prevention mechanisms across the business. The team works closely with cross-functional stakeholders to review processes, implement risk frameworks, and enhance system capabilities to better detect and mitigate risks.
By leveraging in-house risk tools and AI-driven solutions, the team aims to move beyond reactive incident management and drive a more proactive, preventive approach to risk management across Shopee's regional operations.
Job Description
- Risk Governance: Drive risk assessment and process review on cross-functional teams to identify potential harm to the business, evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of current team structure, Standard Operating Procedure, and system features, and implement holistic enhancements to mitigate potential risks
- Product & AI Enablement: Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to develop in-house risk tools and support the implementation of AI-driven capabilities to detect trends and risks in real time
- Preventive Risk Management: Partner with business units during project ideation to embed risk controls early and minimise potential losses
- Process & Framework Optimisation: Conduct end-to-end process reviews, identify vulnerabilities, and support the rollout of standardised risk protocols across regional markets
- Incident Management & Improvement: Coordinate regional incident response with local teams, support stakeholder reporting, and drive post-incident reviews to strengthen risk policies and detection mechanisms
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and above from a top-tier university; quantitative or business disciplines preferred
- Strong data-driven mindset to identify underlying patterns and trends (Proficiency in Excel is mandatory)
- Capability to diagnose root causes and architect practical, scalable solutions for complex issues
- Ability to deconstruct complex manual workflows into streamlined, logical system features
