Revenue & AR Accountant (Digital Marketplace Specialist) / Contract
Summary
As our Revenue Accountant, you will be the primary accounting lead for our Digital Marketplace platforms (e.g., Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, Amazon) across the Southeast Asia & India (SEA&I) territory. Experience in high-volume digital marketplace accounting is required, as this role serves as the critical financial point-of-contact for platform-specific revenue recognition and settlement. You will be part of the Regional Revenue and Inventory Accounting team based in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Marketplace Order-to-Cash & Settlement
- Provide oversight to the entire order-to-cash process within a managed service provider (MSP) model.
- Must lead the reconciliation of net settlements from digital marketplace partners, specifically managing the complexity of gross sales vs. platform commissions, voucher subsidies, and shipping fee offsets.
- Perform variance investigations into platform data discrepancies to ensure accurate month-end revenue accruals.
- Coach the MSP on marketplace-specific desktop procedures to ensure compliance with digital commerce tax and accounting standards.
2. Reporting, Analytics & Marketplace Insights
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packs specifically for the Digital Marketplace vertical, synthesizing complex platform data into concise insights.
- Work closely with Regional Corporate Accounting to assess the financial impact of platform policy changes (e.g., changes in commission structures or return policies).
3. Business & Platform Support
- Provide ongoing support for Retail Moment mechanisms (e.g., 11.11, 12.12, Payday sales), ensuring data integrity across multiple systems during peak high-volume periods.
- Validate the accuracy of platform charges and merchant fees to prevent revenue leakage.
- Engage with Technology and Supply Chain teams to resolve API or platform interface issues and support system testing for new marketplace integrations.
- Identify opportunities to automate the ingestion of Big Data from marketplace seller centers into SAP/ERP systems.
You will work closely with the SEA&I Finance & Controlling teams and cross-functional stakeholders such as Supply Chain Operations, Technology and Direct Digital Commerce business teams. You will also partner with MSP teams to drive highquality operational service delivery.
Requirements:
- Direct Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of specialized experience in Digital Marketplace accounting (either working for a platform or a major brand/distributor selling via marketplaces).
- Platform Proficiency: Proven ability to navigate marketplace Seller Centers and reconcile complex monthly statements involving multiple fee layers.
- Technical Education: CA/CPA and/or Degree holder in Accountancy with 5-7 years of total experience in revenue accounting or financial analysis.
- Data Handling: Expert-level ability to resolve issues in complex, high-volume data ecosystems must be comfortable handling hundreds of thousands of transaction lines.
- Systems: SAP experience is a plus advanced proficiency in Excel or data visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau) for marketplace data analysis is expected.
