Position Summary
This role will be pivotal in enhancing financial processes across the Singapore and Malaysia subsidiaries, while ensuring the Singapore subsidiary is prepared for year-end audit.
The role will support the Finance Manager (Singapore) in executing financial tasks under the direction of the Group Finance Manager and will receive strong guidance from the Group Finance team.
Key responsibilities include supporting month-end and year-end close processes, audits, and ensuring compliance with group policies and IFRS. This is a fixed-term role reporting directly to the Group Finance Manager in New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Management
- Support the transition of the Singapore subsidiary to full use of the company's financial system.
- Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Reconcile sub-ledgers (inventory, accounts receivable, accounts payable) with the general ledger monthly.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of intercompany transactions and balances.
Month-End and Year-End Close
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, meeting group deadlines with accurate data.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate documentation.
- Record accruals and provisions monthly, particularly for license fees and related sales expenses.
- Review and validate financial data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with group policies and IFRS.
Tax Compliance
- Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
Financial Reporting
- Ensure Singapore and Malaysia accounts are compliant with IFRS for group reporting.
- Assist with preparation of subsidiary annual financial statements in line with local standards.
- Support preparation of financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
Budgeting and Forecasting Support
- Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis.
- Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and cost control initiatives.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and introduce best practices.
- Support automation of reporting and accounting procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal financial policies.
- Maintain internal controls over financial reporting and safeguarding of assets.
- Enforce the Group Delegated Authority Policy.
Collaboration and Communication
- Serve as a key liaison between subsidiaries and the global finance team.
- Provide financial support to other departments and address financial queries.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certifications (CA, CPA, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multinational or subsidiary setting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and local statutory requirements.
- Experience in month-end/year-end close, reporting, and audits.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- Strong grasp of accounting principles, financial statements, and reconciliations.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to analyse complex financial data.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- High integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.
