About Us

We are a Chinese bookstore located in Bras Basah Complex, Singapore's iconic book and cultural hub, serving readers, educators, and cultural enthusiasts. Surrounded by art schools, museums, and libraries, our store offers a curated selection of Chinese-language books, cultural products, and literary events for both locals and institutions. We're expanding our outreach and looking for a passionate, bilingual team member to join us.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations, POS accuracy, staff schedules, and maintain a clean, welcoming environment.
  • Supervise and train staff on book knowledge, POS use, and customer service.
  • Provide professional assistance to walk-in and corporate customers handle queries in Mandarin and English.
  • Curate book selections, refresh displays, monitor sales trends, and prepare reports.
  • Coordinate in-store events, promotions, and external book fairs.


Ideal Candidate

  • 3-5 years of retail experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead roleStrong leadership and people management skills, with proven ability to coach and motivate a team
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and English (spoken and written) - required to serve Mandarin-speaking customers and manage Chinese-language titles
  • Interest in Chinese literature and cultural products, or willingness to learn about Chinese books and lifestyle titles
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and hands-on in daily operation
  • Able to work retail weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis

Ideal Qualifications

  • Minimum: Diploma in Retail Management, Business Administration, Chinese Studies, or a related field
  • Preferred: Degree in Business or Humanities (not mandatory if experience is strong)
  • 3-5 years of retail experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role
  • Experience in bookstore or cultural retail is an advantage
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and English (spoken and written) - required to serve Mandarin-speaking customers and manage Chinese-language titles
  • Strong people management and training skills
  • Familiarity with inventory control and retail sales reporting
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and basic office software
  • Able to support event coordination and visual merchandising
  • Willing to work weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis
