Job Summary
As a Restaurant Cook, you will assist in preparing and cooking menu items following recipes and quality standards. You will support senior chefs in daily kitchen operations, prepare ingredients, maintain cleanliness, and help manage food supplies to ensure efficient kitchen performance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, portioning, and marinating to support menu item preparation
- Cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards to ensure consistent food presentation
- Support senior chefs with daily kitchen tasks to maintain smooth kitchen operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations to comply with hygiene and safety standards
- Follow food hygiene, safety, and sanitation regulations to ensure a safe kitchen environment
- Assist with stock rotation and proper storage of food supplies to reduce waste and maintain freshness
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to achieve efficient and timely food service
- Manage kitchen efficiency by helping reduce food waste and supporting operational flow
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Previous experience as a Commis Cook or in a similar role (Level 2/3 preferred)
- Basic culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen procedures
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices HACCP knowledge is a plus
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to work well under pressure in a busy restaurant environment
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Culinary certificate or training (preferred but not essential)
