Resident Advisor

Year-round

Location: Chancery Court, Singapore (near Newton MRT)

About The Role

We are seeking a responsible, mature, out-going and service-oriented Residence Advisor (RA) to oversee the welfare, safety, and living standards of international students residing at our student accommodation at Chancery Court.

The RA supports day-to-day residence operations, ensures house rules are followed, and helps create a safe, welcoming community environment for students.

Compensation Structure

This is a non-salaried role. In exchange for services, the Residence Advisor will receive fully furnished single-room accommodation within the residence.

Working Arrangement

The Residence Advisor must live on-site at Chancery Court and be available during evenings, weekends, and key student arrival or departure periods, with flexibility during peak intake seasons.

Key Responsibilities

Residence Operations

  • Conduct regular inspections of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and ventilation standards.
  • Prepare rooms for student arrivals and reset rooms after departures.
  • Ensure shared spaces and facilities are properly maintained.

Rules & Compliance

  • Conduct residence orientation on student arrival.
  • Administer and collect Residence Agreements.
  • Enforce house policies including curfew, quiet hours, laundry, and kitchen use.
  • Conduct room checks when necessary and ensure no overnight guests.

Student Engagement

  • Organize bi-weekly residence activities such as cultural nights, games, or study sessions.
  • Encourage interaction between students from different cultures.
  • Foster a positive and welcoming living environment.

Student Welfare & Safety

  • Act as the first point of contact for student concerns.
  • Provide basic guidance to international students adjusting to life in Singapore.
  • Escalate serious issues to Operations when required.
  • Respond to emergencies and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Reporting

  • Provide weekly updates on residence conditions.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Maintain basic incident records when necessary.

Ideal Candidate

  • Mature and responsible with experience in education, hospitality, or youth supervision preferred.
  • Strong English communication skills. Mandarin skills are a plus!
  • Patient, culturally sensitive, and confident in enforcing rules.
  • Able to manage minor conflicts and maintain a positive student environment.
  • Comfortable living in a shared international student residence.

  • Maintains a clean, fresh-smelling, and organised residence at all times.
  • Resolves minor issues before they escalate into complaints.
  • Enforces rules firmly but fairly and consistently for all students.
  • Builds trust so students feel comfortable seeking help and support.
  • Creates a positive community atmosphere through regular engagement activities.
  • Keeps accurate documentation and communicates proactively with Operations.
  • Anticipates potential issues (e.g. hygiene, mould, or noise concerns) and takes preventive action.
