Research Scientist (1-year contract), SCIS

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for communicating with nurses and aged patients, working with a research team on AI-assisted system, and giving feedback to the research team and relevant parties. Successful candidate will be part of an active research team at the School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), Singapore Management University (SMU).

• Communicate with various parties, e.g., hospitals, nurses and patients.
• Lead the development of AI models for healthcare systems.
• Lead research paper writing.
• Support team members and hospital staff in data collection and use of AI system during survey interviews.
• Generate synthetic data to augment existing data for research purpose.
• Give feedback to the team on the user experiences.
• Administrative matters related to this project.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in computer science or related disciplines.
• Familiar with machine learning, databases and AI.
• Excellent communication skills with researchers and healthcare professionals.
• Proven track record in research related to machine learning and databases.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a small, agile academic research team is essential.
• Good knowledge of computer science.
• Proficiency in modern machine learning algorithms.
• Experience in synthetic data generation, data quality and knowledge graphs for real-world tasks is highly preferred.
• Open to working with software and hardware required for the project.
• Demonstrated experience and know-how on system implementation.
• Rich research experience in machine learning or AI applications.
• Self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively with team members.
