Job Description

This position is dedicated to advancing the exploration and integrated topological quantum optics. The role involves the theoretical design, fabrication, characterization, and testing of topological quantum emitters or high-performance lasers based on semiconductor quantum dots. The primary objectives include:

  • Conduct fundamental and applied research on topological quantum optical effects in semiconductor quantum dot systems, grounded in advanced topological physics and quantum optics principles. Develop innovative topological photonic device integrated with quantum dots to achieve robust and efficient quantum light sources or lasers.
  • Investigate and optimize the integration methods of semiconductor quantum dots with Silicon or Lithium niobate platforms, focusing on precise fabrication techniques, epitaxial growth, and nanostructure engineering. Address key challenges including fabrication defect minimization, quantum dot uniformity control, and coupling efficiency optimization to enhance device performance.
  • Design and fabricate integrated topological quantum photonic structures, implementing state-of-the-art simulation tools and cleanroom processing technologies. Conduct systematic experimental characterization to evaluate device performance parameters such as emission quality, coherence properties, topological robustness, and operational stability.

Given these research objectives, the ideal candidate should possess profound theoretical and experimental expertise in quantum optics, semiconductor physics, photonics, and topological material science. Practical experience with GaAs material systems, quantum dot epitaxy, photonic device processing, and optical characterization techniques is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • PhD Degree in topological nanophotonics with a strong background in topological quantum optics or physics.
  • Working experience and knowledge in quantum optics, semiconductor physics, and topological materials.
  • Mathematics and specific knowledge required in electromagnetic theory, particularly in the context of topological quantum photonics.
  • Practical experience in numerical simulation software relevant to quantum optical systems and semiconductor devices.
  • Working expertise in nanofabrication such as electron beam lithography, inductively coupled plasma etching, electron-beam deposition, and related nano-fabrication techniques.
  • Extensive experience in characterization techniques including photoluminescence, spectroscopy, coherence measurement, entanglement characterization, and other relevant optical measurements skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Candidate should have strong publication records in reputed International Journals in the field of quantum dots and/or topological photonics.
  • Open to Fixed Term Contract.
