Research Fellow

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow (postdoctoral researcher) to join the SUTD Wireless Innovation Centre (SWIC). The position focuses on cutting-edge research in semantic communication and collaborative perception, particularly at the intersection of wireless communications and computer vision, with applications in next-generation intelligent systems (e.g., V2X, autonomous systems, and distributed AI).

The successful candidate will develop novel frameworks that jointly integrate communication and visual perception, enabling semantics-aware information exchange across distributed agents. The research emphasizes resource-efficient system design, where communication, perception, and learning are co-optimized under practical constraints.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on semantic communication, including semantic representation, transmission, and reconstruction
• Design and implement simulation platforms integrating communication and perception pipelines
• Publish high-quality research in leading IEEE/ACM journals and conferences
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to project development and reporting

Requirements

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

• A PhD degree in computer vision, communications and networking, computer science, operations research, or related fields
• A strong publication record in top-tier IEEE/ACM/OR/Mathematics conferences and journals
• Solid background in one or more of the following areas:
• Semantic communication / information theory
• Computer vision / 3D perception
• Machine learning / generative models
• Wireless communications / networking
• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, PyTorch)
• Proficient in oral and written English
