Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of
Ophthalmology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine to participate in an exciting research program developing treatments for myopia.

Appointments will be made on a contract basis for 3 years after a probationary period. A competitive salary will be offered commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Job Description
- The primary objective of this position is to help develop a novel treatment for high myopia and undertake pre-clinical studies primarily using animal models of myopia. The research tasks will involve raising, monitoring and measuring live young animals developing high myopia, undertake surgical and drug interventions, extract and process ocular tissues using different methods depending on individual expertise, and undertake data analysis. Training will be provided for specialised methods and innovative adaptation is expected.
- Applicant would be expected to assist with writing grant and ethics applications, and drafting research manuscripts
- The Postdoctoral research fellow would also be expected to help guide young students and visiting scholars and facilitate cross-disciplinary collaborations.
- Applicant would be expected to comply with all ethics, health and safety and other regulatory requirements for proper functioning of the laboratory
Qualifications
- Applicants must hold a PhD in a vision science-related field specialising in animal models underlying ocular mechanisms or disease with expertise in ocular biology and/or ocular surgery. Ocular pharmacology and drug delivery will also be considered. Experience in live animal work is essential.
- An excellent track record of research accomplishments and a passion for translational ophthalmology is essential.
- Experience with animal models of myopia is advantageous. Experience with ocular histochemistry and microscopy methods (SEM/TEM) and tissue biomechanics is also considered an advantage.
- Capacity for sophisticated data analysis with programming or AI expertise will also be highly considered.
- Applicant must have an ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for innovation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document research findings and communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
