We are looking for a Research Fellow to lead and drive the research for the group's advanced-materials programmes in multifunctional fibres, two-dimensional (2D) material coatings, and thermal management. The Research Fellow will develop high-performance composite fibres with enhanced electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. The role also develops thermal-management materials for efficient heat dissipation, contributing to advanced materials for aerospace and next-generation electronic applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, fabricate, and post-process multifunctional composite fibres (carbonization, chemical vapour deposition / infiltration, BN and MXene coating, and fibre spinning) to enhance their electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties.
Formulate functional inks for fibre coating and direct spinning, and develop and optimise the coating and spinning processes.
Develop thermal-management materials - high-thermal-conductivity composites, phase-change and thermal-interface materials - for efficient heat dissipation and thermal control.
Perform and analyse material characterisation (SEM, TEM, AFM, Raman, XPS, UV-Vis) and thermal / electrical property measurements.
Design experiments, optimise process parameters, benchmark enhanced materials, and evaluate EMI-shielding and real-application performance.
Prepare reports, deliverables, and presentations for project meetings and milestones, and mentor PhD students.
Job Requirements:
Possess PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Material Science, Physics or related disciplines.
Experience in operating CVD systems for growth of 2D and other nanomaterials.
Experience in nanomaterial characterization techniques.
Good management skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Excellent teamwork awareness.
Good communication and writing in English- essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
Strong responsibility for research / work.
