We are looking for aResearch Fellow toadvance data-driven approaches to electrochemistry and molecular design for sustainable energy storage and decarbonisation. The role will focus on the design and mechanistic understanding of electrolytes and electrode-electrolyte interfaces, integrating high-throughput experimentation, advanced characterisation and data-driven analysis to accelerate the discovery of sustainable electrochemical energy materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in the conduct of research project with research team members to ensure completion of deliverables
Design, synthesis and evaluate electrolyte systems and electrode-electrolyte interfaces for next-generation electrochemical energy storage devices
Investigate solvation chemistry, interfacial reaction mechanisms and interphase formation using advanced electrochemical, spectroscopic and structural characterisation techniques
Establish high-throughput and automated experimental workflows, and curate the resulting datasets to enable data-driven analysis and materials screening
Develop structure-property-performance relationships and apply data-driven or machine learning approaches to guide molecular design and accelerate materials discovery
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including computational, data science and industry partners, to translate research outcomes into sustainable and decarbonisation-relevant applications
Mentor and provide technical guidance to graduate students and junior researchers within the team where applicable.
Assist in grant writing, project reporting, and preparation of manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals
Job Requirements:
PhD in materials science and engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Strong research track record in electrolyte design, interfacial electrochemistry, or lithium battery systems, demonstrated by publications in top-tier journals
At least 3 years of relevant experiences in a similar research role / technical hands-on experience in electrochemical energy storage, electrolyte design, or electrode-electrolyte interfacial chemistry
Familiarity with electrochemical testing and cell assembly, and with laboratory safety requirements for handling chemicals and electrolytes
Good written and oral communication skills , with a strong track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
Experience with or willingness to engage in data-driven approaches (e.g., structured dataset curation, collaboration with AI/ML researchers) is an advantage.
Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, multi-institutional research environment.
We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
