Job Description

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science, Characterisation Materials Science, Defence Composite Materials, Functional Composite Materials, Energy, Nanomaterials, Low Dimensional Materials, Biomaterials Materials, Biological Materials, Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials.

We are looking for aResearch Fellow to work on the catalysis for CO2 related reduction, hydrogenation and coouping reactions. The role will focus on catalyst design, mechanism study, and supervising students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesis model catalysts

  • Evaluate the catalytic properties

  • Supervising students

  • Assist in grant writing

  • Maintenance of lab or equipment or supplies that include procurement and liaison with suppliers

  • Assist or Produce high quality reports and documents that consolidate research findings

Job Requirements:

  • PhD qualification degree in Solid-State physics/Inorganic chemistry

  • At least 2 years of relevant experiences in similar role / technical hands-on experience

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in specific programming languages, numeric and analytical skill

  • Competent in soft skills / general personality traits e.g. information visualization, interaction design

  • Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills
