Job Description

Established in 1992, the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) is the only full-fledged communication school in Singapore and is a world-class centre of excellence with an international faculty, state-of-the-art research laboratories, and global institutional affiliations. The Privacy and Emotion Lab in WKWSCI is a research lab that conduct in-depth study about individuals usage.

The Research Fellow will support the research project that aims to design human-IoT communication that effectively motivates seniors to actively engage in self-directed health prevention, leading to improvements in their mental and physical well-being. Consequently, our project will primarily focus on relatively healthier seniors (aged 60 and above), who do not have serious health conditions requiring intensive medical treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature reviews and working on research papers

  • Lead in the conceptualisation and planning of research projects

  • Lead in data gathering (including focus group discussions and surveys)

  • Conduct data analyses of interview data and survey data

  • Contribute activley to the writing of academic research manuscript

  • Lead in the writing of reports

  • Carry out administrative work associated with the program of research as necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated with a PhD degree in Communication Studies, Psychology or related field in the social sciences

  • Prior experience in focus group interviews and surveys for social science research

  • Ability to run standard statistical tests (e.g., using SPSS or Mplus for regression analysis and SEM, etc.)

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical tests (e.g. moderation/mediation, hierarchical regression etc.) is preferred

  • Good project management skills, with multi-tasking ability

  • Academic writing skills

  • A good publication track record evidenced by journal publications and conference presentations is preferred

  • Applicants with 1+ years of work experience in social sciences research will be preferred. Entry level candidates are welcome to apply.
