Job Description

The Centre for Sleep and Cognition at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, invites applications for Research Fellow for Sleep and Cognitive Lab, Centre for Sleep and Cognition, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

Research Fellow (RF) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator to transform research plans into tangible outputs.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Fellow will be expected to:

  1. Assist in the conception of research plans and/or new initiatives and transforming these into working experiments or projects.
  2. Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in managing scientific and administrative staff in the lab, including the training and management of research assistants, graduate and medical students.
  3. Perform advanced statistical analysis, e.g. causal discovery modelling, on the sleep, health and wellbeing data as collected by the Sleep & Cognition Laboratory.
  4. Build up the analytics capacity of the lab by creating standard operating procedures and processing pipelines for data analysis.
  5. Prepare manuscripts and presentations of research results at conferences and meetings.

Qualifications

The applicant should have:

  1. A PhD in statistics, neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science or psychology. Prior experience conducting sleep or health research is a plus.
  2. The ability to work both independently as well as in a team as needed.
  3. Good people management and communication skills.
  4. Ability to program experiments, use computer tools for data organization or statistical analysis (e.g. Matlab / R / Python / SPSS / SAS).

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
