Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow for Cardiovascular-Metabolic Disease TRP in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The CVMD-TRP is dedicated to advancing the understanding of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and developing innovative therapies that make a real difference in patients lives, mobilising collective talent and resources across molecular, genomic, cellular, clinical trial, computational, and behavioural research domains. The programme integrates research spanning stem cells, cardiovascular immunology, genomics, CRISPR gene editing, clinical trials, digital health, and implementation science within the National University Health System (NUHS). Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Principal Investigator to transform research plans into tangible outputs.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Fellow will liaise with the relevant personnel in hospitals and research labs to smooth the process of data collection and data management, and will be accountable to the Principle Investigator (PI). The RF will have or be able to:

  • Capacity to achieve research independence
  • Potential to achieve excellence e.g. as evidenced by the quality and quantity of publications. Quality (with weight given to work that is internationally recognised), rather than quantity, is the overriding factor and may be evidenced by the level of creativity, the significance and impact of the work
  • Ability to carry out complex assignments which include in-depth assessment, interpretation and evaluation of research outcomes conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research which could have a considerable influence and impact in the field of resuscitation and critical care and help to attract external funding
  • Contributions to project management, provision of guidance to more junior researchers
  • Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  • Holds a PhD degree in psy or related disciplines
  • be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail
  • have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. SPSS, MS office, PowerPoint

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
