ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on a specific area of the energy value chain and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large-scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications. As a Research Engineer II at ERI@N, you will be at the forefront of our microgrid technology and clean energy solution development efforts, responsible for designing, testing, power and energy management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, maintain and operate SCADA applications, GUI/HMI, PLC programs and edge devices. Create APIs for cloud applications.
Digitally integrate new assets, test and commission hardware and software applications for microgrid field operations
Review detailed electrical power systems drawings submitted by contractors and ensure safe and reliable operation of the testbed
Manage the electrical system operations and support the project milestones of the NTU testbed sites (for example NTU campus, Jurong Island, Semakau Landfill) and liaise with industry partners, vendors, Licensed Electrical Workers or qualified practitioners on topics that involve 400V/6.6kV MW-scale distribution network
Lead the necessary measures to maintain and improve the overall electrical system safety of the testbed
Regularly supervise contractors at project sites in order to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
Carry out field/site activities located both in NTU and out of it as required.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's/master's degree in electrical engineering with specialization in power systems or automation and control
3-5 years of relevant experiences in similar role / technical hands-on experience.
Expertise in electrical system design and analysis with standard industry tools such as AutoCAD.
Proficiency with Grid Communication Protocols (Modbus TCP, IEC61850, DNP3) for Smartgrid power and energy management systems
Proficiency in Singapore Standard Code of Practices for electrical installations, solar inverters, ESS and EV chargers
Experience in PLC programming is advantageous.
Experience in site supervision & contract works related to electric utility industry, preferably in the area of distribution system network, power system protection & switchgear (ABB, Schneider).
Prior experience in dealing with government agencies regarding the electrical installation licensing for solar, ESS, Diesel Storage and Hydrogen Storage.
Experience in troubleshooting, isolation and resolution of electrical system issues
An effective team player with good written, communication & presentation skills.
Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills.
