Research Engineer (15-month contract or till 30 Sep 2027), RISE

Job Description

• This position is forCentre for Research on Intelligent Software Engineering (RISE).
• Survey existing toolkits on incident response and digital forensics for AI systems.
• Identify weaknesses of existing approaches.
• Work with the research scientists of the project and implement the proposed approaches on real-world AI systems.
• Evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of the proposed approaches.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or closely related disciplines with particular focus on AI safety.
• Minimum 1 years of relevant research experience in AI.
• Proficiency in programming software/languages such as Python will be positively considered/is required.
• Proven track record and professional experience in AI safety.
• Demonstrated experience and know-how on AI.
• Excellent working knowledge of LLMs and agentic frameworks.
• Ability to break down complex problems and design effective solutions.
• Innovating new approaches and thinking outside the box.
• Applicants with research publications in AI safety area will be advantageous.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a small, agile academic research team is essential.
• Self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively with team members.
