Research Engineer (1-year contract or till 30 June 2027), SMC

Job Description

• Headcount required to build and operate core platform services:
  • Message bus
  • Encrypted object storage
  • Vector/embedding service
  • Observability (metrics, tracing, alerts)
• Engineering work also includes:
  • Extraction microservices (pattern cascade, transformer inference)
  • Language routing and translation
  • Robust preprocessing with retry and backoff mechanisms & batching for efficiency
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or closely related disciplines from an institution of higher learning
• Proficiency in programming software/languages such as Python is required
• Prior experience in backend development is preferred
• Good analytical, technical and problem solving skills
