About the Role
The Research Director (RD) will lead the development and coordination of SUSS's key research initiatives across the University's research pillars. Reporting to the Assistant Provost (Research), the RD will drive strategic and operational efforts to strengthen SUSS's applied and interdisciplinary research capacity, support research leaders, and advance impactful scholarship aligned with the University's mission of applied social good.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate research initiatives across SUSS's strategic research pillars to ensure alignment with institutional priorities.
- Support research leaders and project teams in developing, securing, and managing competitive research grants.
- Actively participate in major research projects as Co-Principal Investigator or core team member, contributing to grant development, research design, data analysis, and dissemination through publications and conferences.
- Provide supporting contributions to other research projects through activities such as grant and IRB application assistance, coordination of research events, and research staff recruitment.
- Foster collaborations with academic, industry, and community partners to enhance research visibility and impact.
- Contribute to research capacity-building efforts, including mentoring junior researchers and facilitating research-related training programmes.
- Teach at least one course per academic year and maintain satisfactory teaching performance.
- Undertake committee and service responsibilities.
Job Requirements
- PhD in a relevant discipline from a reputable institution.
- Proven record of research leadership, including management of large or multi-partner research projects.
- Strong track record in research publications and competitive grant success.
- Experience working across disciplines or in applied research areas in the social sciences.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to SUSS's mission of applied research, social impact, and lifelong learning.
