The candidate would be working in a multinational team at the forefront of Singapore's agricultural innovation and food security.

The position of Research Associate/Research Fellow will focus on the discovery of resistance genes with effectoromics, with a focus on pathogen genome analysis, functional screens in plants and identification of genes that lead to resistant plants for indoor farming systems for Brassica. The research will be closely linked to a second project focusing on receptor-centric signalling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and analyze DNA and RNA sequences of selected Brassica pathogens

  • Predict effectors, and clone them in expression vectors

  • Develop and perform effectoromics screens in Brassica cultivars and wild germplasm

  • Develop and perform disease assays for Brassica indoor farming

  • Identify and clone resistance genes

  • Document results and contribute to reports, publications, and presentations

Job Requirements:

Research Associate (Master's level)

  • Master's degree in Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, Biotechnology, Molecular Genetics, Functional genomics, or a related field

  • Experience with plant molecular biology techniques, genomics and genetic analysis

  • Strong affinity with plant phenotyping

  • Basic knowledge of effector biology and plant-microbe interactions

  • Strong communication skills, analytical skills

Research Fellow (PhD level)

  • PhD degree in Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Genetics, Functional Genomics, or a closely related discipline

  • Demonstrated experience with plant molecular biology, functional genomics and genetic analysis

  • Strong background in plant-microbe interactions, effector biology

  • Affinity with plant phenotyping

  • Strong communication skills, proven ability to lead experiments, analyze data, and publish research

We seek a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of merit, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family responsibilities, or disability.
