The Executive Search Research Associate is a core member of Egon Zehnder's consulting teams and plays a critical role in delivering best‑in‑class executive search and leadership advisory outcomes. Research Associates specialize in specific industries, capabilities, or practices and are viewed as trusted domain expert sand the go‑to source for market intelligence, talent insights, and candidate evaluation support.
The Research Associate supports the full lifecycle of executive search assignments, from initial market mapping and search strategy development, through candidate identification and assessment, to assignment closure. This role requires close collaboration with Consultants, clients, and global research colleagues, as well as a strong orientation toward quality, rigor, and insight.

Key Responsibilities
Managing Search Pipeline & Process
- Formulate compelling, evidence‑based search strategies independently and contribute actively to their execution.
- Consistently identify and develop best‑in‑class, high‑quality, and diverse candidate slates.
- Conduct extensive research using online resources, market intelligence, and Egon Zehnder's proprietary databases to identify top executive talent.
- Proactively approach and engage industry leaders, where appropriate, to understand market dynamics, organizational context, reputational factors, and recommendations for top talent.
- Develop comprehensive market overviews and talent landscapes to inform client discussions and decision‑making.
- Ensure candidates are thoroughly market‑validated and share relevant insights gathered during assignments with Consultants and clients.
- Support Consultants in managing candidate and client communications throughout the search process.
- Collaborate with colleagues across global offices to fully leverage Egon Zehnder's international network, sharing insights and best practices.
- Partner with administrative and operational teams to produce content‑rich, insight‑driven client updates and status reports.
- Maintain the highest standards of data quality and integrity within Egon Zehnder's research systems, ensuring timely and rigorous capture of insights generated during search work.
Business Development & Knowledge Contribution
- Demonstrate strong domain expertise and market insight that informs Consultants strategic thinking and enhances Egon Zehnder's market position.
- Continuously monitor market trends, industry developments, and leadership movements to identify potential opportunities for client engagement and relationship development.
- Conduct background research and generate market insights to support pitches, proposals, and client presentations, working closely with Egon Zehnder's Knowledge and Research teams.
- Contribute research expertise to client meetings and pitches, when appropriate.
- Partner with Knowledge teams to capture and codify both search‑related and non‑search‑related insights within Egon Zehnder's global knowledge base.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of relevant business experience, gained within a commercial, professional services, corporate, or research‑focused environment. Experience may come from executive search, management consulting, professional services, strategy, research functions, or other business‑related roles emphasizing data gathering, analysis, and insight generation.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- The ability to work seamlessly with Consultants and engage effectively with senior‑level clients within a defined industry or functional context.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate multiple internal and external constituencies.
- A track record of delivering high‑quality work in fast‑paced, professional services environments, with a strong emphasis on rigor, discretion, and judgment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree from a respected institution.
- Master's degree is a plus
