Job Description

The faculty was invited to be the Principal Investigator of an MOE commissioned study looking at the impact of caning on students in Singapore schools. Specifically, the study aims to understand the preventive and deterrent impacts as well as immediate and longer-term outcomes of caning on learning, behavioural and psychological aspects.

The study also aims to understand stakeholders (educators, parents, and students), views and perceptions on caning as a disciplinary measure in schools.

We are looking for aResearch Associate to assist the PI with research of the above-named project. The role will focus on conducting research literature and conducting the project which include data collection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research literature of the topic at hand

  • Assist PI in writing up required documents for the project

  • Help design relevant online documents needed to collect data

  • Help with analysis of data once the latter is collected

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Educational Psychology or related field

  • At least 3 years of relevant experiences in similar scope of work

  • Familiarity with the Singapore school system

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in statistical skills (like SPSS) required for anaylsing data collected
