We are looking for a Research Assistant to support interdisciplinary research on Singapore's coastal ecosystems. The role focuses on field, laboratory, and analytical work to evaluate the capacity of mangrove and coral reef systems to provide sustained protection under climate stress, including sea-level rise and marine heatwaves.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct fieldwork in mangrove and coral reef environments, including sediment core collection and ecological surveys
Perform sedimentological, palaeoecological (pollen), and geochemical analyses (e.g., TOC, carbonate)
Deploy and maintain environmental sensors (e.g., temperature loggers) and analyse associated datasets
Apply microscopy and GIS-based spatial analysis for habitat mapping and data interpretation
Support data analysis, scientific reporting, and manuscript preparation
Assist with project logistics, procurement, and coordination of field and lab activities
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geoscience, Marine Science, or related field
Experience in field and laboratory work in coastal or marine environments
Familiarity with sediment analysis, palaeoecology, or geochemical techniques preferred
Proficiency in GIS and/or data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python)
Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills ability to work in challenging field conditions
