Research Assistant (Transition Metal Catalysis)

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) is a newly established interdisciplinary joint school under College of Engineering and College of Science at NTU Singapore. The Zhong group works at the interface of organometallic and organic chemistry to develop new generations of transition metal catalysts and reagents for novel organic transformations.

The Zhong group is pursuing development of new generations of transition metal catalysts for asymmetric catalysis and C-H functionalization. The candidate should have a BS/MS degree in chemistry with prior experience in synthetic organic chemistry and/or transition metal catalysis in advanced institutions. The candidate should possess analytical skills including NMR, GC/HPLC, mass spec, etc, as well as experience in handling air-sensitive compounds with Schlenk techniques or glovebox.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in routine lab research and data analysis in organic chemistry and organometallic chemistry.

• Assist in instrument maintenance, and acquisition of chemicals, lab supplies and consumables.

• Present research progress in group meetings and private meetings.

Job Requirements:

• BS in chemistry

• Prior experience in synthetic organic chemistry and/or transition metal catalysis in advanced institutions.

• Analytical skills including NMR, GC/HPLC, mass spec, etc.

• Experience in handling air-sensitive compounds with Schlenk techniques or glovebox.
