Overview

Job Description

The Department of Pathology at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant to join a multidisciplinary team studying haematolymphoid malignancies, with a focus on lymphoma. The lab integrates genomics, digital pathology, and advanced spatial platforms to advance biomarker discovery and pre-clinical testing of novel therapeutic agents. Your contributions will support improvements in diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic targeting for patients with lymphoma.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments in cell culture and molecular biology to support translational research projects.
  • Conduct protein and nucleic-acid workflows, including Western immunoblotting and DNA/RNA-based assays.
  • Support genomics/epigenomics-related sample preparation and profiling workflows (e.g., DNA/RNA/methylome-related procedures) as required by project needs.
  • Optimise protocols, troubleshoot experimental issues and maintain reproducible workflows.

Support role (administration and safety)

  • Provide administrative support for research activities as needed.
  • Support lab safety and compliance by maintaining records, following SOPs/biosafety requirements, and assisting with audits and safety training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, or a closely related field from a well-recognised university.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology workflows, preferably involving DNA/RNA extraction and QC, PCR/qPCR
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse, interdisciplinary research environment.

Preferred (advantageous But Not Required)

  • Familiarity with NGS and/or omics platforms (e.g., bulk RNA-seq, targeted sequencing panels, scRNA-seq, methylation or proteomics workflows)
  • Willingness to learn bioinformatics and data analysis, with any prior exposure to R/Python, basic command-line, or analysis pipelines
