Job Description

CRADLE seeks applications for the position of Research Assistant. The successful candidate will be an integral member of an inter-disciplinary research team in the Science of Learning of emerging skills (literacy and numeracy). This position requires task-orientation, excellent organizational skills, attention to details and accuracy, flexibility in responding to fluid situations, good interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently. Experience with cognitive/neuropsychological testing and/or neuroimaging techniques (such as functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), diffusion MRI (DTI, HARDI, DSI)) is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participant recruitment.

  • Data collection using psychological and neuroimaging techniques, such as cognitive testing, fNIRS and MRI.

  • Perform data analyses and manage data analysis pipelines under PI's supervision.

  • Perform research-related administrative work, such as purchase of material/equipment for research.

  • Liaise and work closely with stakeholders from external institutions (including schools) and project collaborators.

  • Conduct literature reviews and preparing policy reports for stakeholders.

  • Prepare presentations and manuscripts for dissemination of findings.

  • Systems administration, including maintenance of network servers and data security.

  • Carry any other duties as required by Principal Investigator

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors (Honours) degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or related field

  • Possess excellent communication and written skills to perform literature reviews, write progress reports, and present research findings.

  • Self-motivator, able to work independently to collect data, analyse data, and communicate findings.

  • Proficient in statistical analysis (SPSS or R), programming language (e.g., Python, Matlab), and experience with neuroimaging software.

  • Willing to travel to testing sites for data collection.

  • Excellent organizational skills and able to work within tight deadlines.

  • Self-directed learner who effectively picks up relevant skills as needed.

  • Prior experience with cognitive neuroscience research, neuroimaging techniques (e.g., fNIRS, MRI), and academic publication processes
