The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is a University Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University Singapore that conducts fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, towards safer and more sustainable societies. EOS are looking for a Research Assistant in the areas of natural hazards.
The candidate will work under the supervision of Susanna Jenkins and will collaborate with researchers from the Integrating Volcano and Earthquake Science and Technology (InVEST)in Southeast Asia project, a 5-year project that aims to provide a holistic understanding of regional tectonics, volcanoes, the linkages between the two, and their cascading hazards and impacts in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and analyse data from natural hazards
Support the team in simulating natural hazards and critically evaluating results
Write technical reports, with the aim of publishing results in scientific journals
Requirements:
BSc in relevant area, e.g. geography, computer science, physics, earth/environmental science
Experience with coding and GIS preferred
An interest in natural hazards and their impacts.
A quantitative mindset
Good written and oral communication skills
