The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Assistant for Evaluating the GAR/RGG alarmin motif in autoimmunity and cancer vaccine development in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Department is reputed for research and education in microbiology, infectious diseases, and immunology. For more information on the department, please visit https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/mbio/. Appointments will be made on a 6-month contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
Purpose of the post
Position 1: research assistant (RA1) to work on a technological platform for developing cancer vaccines.
Position 2: research assistant (RA2) to work on the role of nucleolin in cancer and immunity.
Main duties and responsibilities
Candidate who take up either of these two positions will work in a team to develop the two projects towards clinical applications and will be accountable to the Principle Investigator (PI). The RA will be able to:
(1) Oversee the general management of the project
(2) Provide administrative support to the project, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other members of the research team and collaborate with other laboratories
(3) Undertake the day to day running of the project
(4) Supervising new staff, working with institutional safety/ethics offices, mentoring undergraduate students, as well as assisting in preparing both progress and final reports of the project
(5) Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures
(6) Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.
The applicant should:
(a) Have a first degree with good results or holds a Master's degree in immunology or related disciplines
(b) be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail
(c) have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. SPSS, adobe illustrator, photoshop, MS office, PowerPoint
(d) have experiences in the translational immunology areas of research.
