Job Description

The Mechanobiology Institute (MBI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is a leading multi-disciplinary institute devoted to developing new paradigms for understanding biological functions in health and diseases from the perspective of cell, tissue and organ mechanics/dynamics and mechano-signal transduction. The institute operates on a fully integrated open-lab philosophy, with an extensive infrastructure supported by core facilities dedicated to technology such as state-of-the-art light microscopy, nano- and micro- fabrication, and computing.

We seek to recruit a highly motivated individual to join the research group of Prof. Hanry Yu as a Research Assistant at the MBI, NUS. The responsibilities of the selected candidate will include:

  • Assisting in optimizing liver-heart chip models for toxin testing .
  • Developing AI-based image analysis pipelines for quantitative analysis of biological imaging data.
  • Assisting in the maintenance, expansion, and differentiation of stem cells for ongoing research projects
  • Assisting in other research projects on mechanobiology, liver tissue engineering, biomaterials and imaging
  • Oversight of laboratory safety, procurement, budget management, and proposal/report writing for research project

Qualifications

  • Bsc/BEng/BTech and above in life science or biomedical engineering from highly reputable universities or academic institutes
  • Experienced in organoid and stem cell culture, molecular biology experimental techniques, and confocal microscopy imaging skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
  • Good team player demonstrated in research teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, think and work across disciplinary boundaries
