Research Assistant (Health Outcomes Research)
The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to join a multi-disciplinary research team conducting health outcomes research in children with acute and chronic illness in Indonesia. This position offers a unique opportunity for a junior researcher to gain hands-on experience in both qualitative and quantitative methods for assessing health outcomes in paediatric populations in low- and middle-income countries. The successful candidate will play a leading role in a multi-year research programme and will work closely with Associate Professor Luo Nan, collaborating with local, regional, and international experts in health outcomes measurement.
Job scope:
. To undertake high-quality research in paediatric health outcomes in Indonesia.
. To recruit and interview paediatric patients and their caregivers in Bandung, Indonesia.
. To conduct systematic reviews relevant to health outcomes measurement.
. To manage, clean, and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
. To contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
. To collaborate with multidisciplinary research partners locally and internationally.
. To support the overall coordination of a multi-year research programme.
Requirements:
. Ability to write and communicate in English as the candidate will need to collaborate with an international research team and publish papers in English journal.
. Ability to write and communicate in Bahasa Indonesia as most survey participants recruited in Indonesia may not be native English speakers.
. Demonstrated experience in paediatric or child health research, including work with children, caregivers, and/or families in clinical or community settings.
. Experience conducting qualitative research (e.g., interviews, focus groups, transcription, thematic analysis) and/or quantitative research (e.g., survey data collection, psychometric analysis).
. Familiarity with health outcomes measurement, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), or quality-of-life instruments would be an advantage.
. Experience in data management and analysis using statistical software such as SPSS or Stata.
. Ability to work independently in the field in Indonesia while coordinating effectively with an international research team.
. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple research activities within a multi-year project.
The following knowledge and experience would be advantageous:
. Experience contributing to research grant applications and funding proposals.
. Experience with teaching and assessment (desirable but not essential).
. Experience with advanced quantitative methods, including statistical modelling and longitudinal data analysis.
. Experience with psychometric validation, health outcomes measurement, or patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).
. Experience conducting health economic evaluations (e.g., cost-effectiveness analysis).
. Experience managing large datasets and working with advanced statistical or analytical software.
The grade of appointment will be accorded based on candidate's academic qualifications and years of relevant experience.
