School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. We are looking for a research assistant to perform field data collection, laboratory analysis, data processing, analysis and model building. Candidate should have strong background in conducting laboratory work, preferably with experience in soil analyses, measurements of leaf traits and using machines such as ICP-OES. This is research work related to the development of a forest restoration digital companion and the role of the hired personnel include upkeeping of forest plots, the microclimate sensors, collecting and analyzing soil physiochemical properties and plant functional traits. The data collected will go into model building of forest growth, understanding how soil and other microclimate variables drive forest regeneration. Other aspects of the job include various aspects of supporting the ecological, geospatial and engineering multi-disciplinary team for the development of the FRDC platform.
Interested party should have a strong interest forest ecology and restoration, and should be keen on pursuing further studies.
Key Responsibilities:
Field plots maintenance and demographic data collection
Soil and plant functional trait data measurement, processing and analysis
Data assimilation
Report and publication writing
General administrative duties such as purchasing, liaising, networking
Job Requirements:
Bachelors qualification degree in ecology, conservation or related field
At least 1 years of relevant experience in data collection, assimilation and data processing
Familiarity with data assimilation and data processing
Good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in R, GIS and analysis
Competent in data analysis and quality control
Ability to work independently and as a team member
